My boyfriend hinted i should have gotten him cologne... what kind do you suggest?

he said he thought since i went all out on christmas for him he suspected i would get him cologne. i have no idea what is what when it comes to this so i figured i would aks yall... any suggestions? please nothing overly strong smelling, make sure it really is a guy smell. nothing to expensive and please tell me where to get it either online or a store that i could get it. preferably a store so i can smell it. i like in MA. in the US (idk if that was needed lol)
