What width of perch to buy for an Indian Ringneck?

Alright, so I am getting a 5 month old IRN in a few weeks and I am completely lost when it comes to figuring out what size perches to get...I mean, I have a Calico Macaw, but that is a HUGE size gap ;-P will 0.5" be okay? Or should I get a 0.75"...I just don't want them to be too thick and hurt his little feet ;-P Thanks in advance guys!
