Question about wnba all star game?

i know in the all star games its supposed to be: west vs. east, NL vs. AL, AFC vs. NFC. but recently i saw on espn 2 the lacrosse all star game... Major league lacrosse all-stars vs. USA national lacrosse team. and this upcoming wnba all star game its wnba all stars vs. USA womens national team. i read that diana tauri and sue bird are gonna play for USA team and not the all star team, why is that? if candace parker plays for the USA national team and she also plays for LA Sparks, can she choose which team she plays for?? why dont they make it east vs. west anymore?
