Any alternatives for getting to des moines, iowa from chicago? to fly from ord is $400+ for some crazy reason?

im not even supposed to go for a month. is des moines the new vegas??? do nto want to drive since that'll take 5 horus. willing to fly from any airport in chicagoland as far as milwaukee. will even drive 2 hours at either destination or origin but no more.
